Education Scholarships for Hungarian Children

Having spent my life in education, I know better than most the challenge we face -- children who come to school from homes where the parents are below the poverty line and do not have money to improve the lives of their children through education.

At the Hungarian Catholic Mission, we strive to change this perception, one child at a time. Over 100 years ago, Thomas Jefferson wrote "...that the children of the poor must be thus educated at common expense." However, even today, many students cannot attend a college or university because they are from a low-income family that cannot afford the cost of tuition.

As a part of the Hungarian Catholic Mission Scholarship Fund, we want to improve the lives of Hungarians through Education programs. We will fund up to four high school students per year to attend Woodside Priory High School in Portola Valley, California. Two students will come from Hungary and two students will come from Transylvania. Our foundation will also provide funding for Hungarian and Romanians to improve cultural diversity, dignity, and respect. These will be through programs, books, and teachers.
